Microflights Flying Club
Microflights Flying Club (The Long Marston Flyers) is the heart and soul of our flying family here at Long Marston Airfield, and new student pilots automatically become members on payment of the first annual subscription of £60. Current club membership is a requirement of your NPPL(M) training course with us, and we hope that you will want to continue participating fully as a club member once you have qualified. EVERYONE has a valuable part to play in building our unique family of pilots and everyone is equal, irrespective of where you are on the training continuum. Club members who are qualified pilots actively encourage student members to come flying with them (so bring along your flying kit every time you visit the airfield!), and student members volunteer to help out with the daily tasks of rigging and refuelling.
It’s really important to understand that your flying course DOESN’T just consist of flying lessons: it’s very much about being as ACTIVELY involved at the airfield – and in our social events – as you can be. Flyable weekends are especially good times to drop by and “see what’s going on”, have a cuppa and a chat with other students and club pilots. And seize every opportunity to get “hands-on” with the aircraft, whether it’s just helping someone put a wing on or participating in our intermittent wing rigging and de-rigging sessions. And make sure you get your name down early for a back seat every time we organize a Club Fly-Out. It won’t cost you anything, and the more you join in, the more fellow-flyers you meet and the more you learn! Club members receive The Long Marston Flyer, our club newsletter, which keeps you up-to-date with fellow students’ progress and successes, as well as making sure you know all about recent and upcoming club events – including Club Fly-Outs and our regular Club Socials.
